F-16 For India?
05Feb09

The F-16 is great aircraft. Its capabilities are well proven. But should India buy updated F-16s for its MMRCA requirement? Will the need for technology transfer to Indian industries prove more important than the actual capability itself? Will India consider buying an aircraft that is being procured by rival Pakistan and which the US forces are winding down the acquisition of? What do you think?

US can everytime make its aircraft unworkable, there’s ”locker” into aircraft
India should never by any American fighter jets, because America is interested in spreading its arms around the world specially to our neighbour Pakistan. Pakistan also have F 16 which have almost 85% similarity which is offered to India, India should not match the weapon or fighter category with its neighbour but need to be a head in this. Why don’t India look for F22 , Su 47, or should increase the number of Su30 Mki flankers because its already proved to be best.
Agree with Monish. What I also believe is if any of US’s current offerings go un-noticed and not under consideration. Definitely they’ll try to push their “Raptors” breed. Same bid cost will go rise; bad for India ?(Because of their their expensive cost). Seeing this Russia, will definitely cheap-in SU-32 and SU-47. France will get-in their best “Rafael” class. “Gripen” might get fade out and “Eagles” of British. Russia has pitch in for more doubled money of “Admiral Gorshkov”- 100% turning point of military exchange and buying between India and Russia. Russia is well aware, India is going after US goods through Israel and bought directly many $ equipments, artillery, Radars, Transport Aircraft from USA. Now India might re-think of buying any high exclusive equipments from Russia. Which also gets junked easily while in sheds in small time.
The f-22 is not for sale, the Su-47 is Russian built and not for sale and the su-30 is Russian built.
That leaves the f-15 or f-16 as choices
or the f-35 if India ever decide to get serious about spending on defense.
f-16 is a real good choice.
Why do you think the IDF has spent a fortune upgrading their own f-16.
You should buy it because Pakistan operates the Block 40 model basically. The F-16IN is classed as a 4.5 generation aircraft because it is based on the Block 60 Desert Falcon and incorporates a lot that was developed for the F-22 and F-35. It has a superior reliability record, superiorcombat record, superior supply network to the Russian and European models. The technology is more advanced. The radar and computers are better and more reliable. If your are worried about Pakistan the variants they have as well as their Chinese and other aircraft can’t compare. You have not gotten a lot from Russia except technical problems and lack of reliability in operations. The same is true of the European A/C. Your pilots who have tried it already rave about its performance and superior cockpit…All of this adds up to a better deal for India for its money.
India shouldn’t buy F-16…
because Pak has it already… and its a well known aircraft with all its capability Right now India is looking for the lonterm stratagic aircraft… And how can we forget our dragon…!!! I think india should incourage our private firm or isro to build such kind of air craft which can meet our all the requirment…
Well !! what India can get from US is 123 only .. if its Nuclear Bomb or Jets
The best deal for india to rely on their Pilots than air crafts and build their own industry. They can get only when they maintain peace with their neighbours
US wants India to become Policeman for SouthAsian and Imposter Israel has already done in Middle East
But anyway Pakistan dont bother because She know its not the MMRCA bid rather a Ms Universe sort of a competition so let the winner decide and we all claps for the winner.
The F-16 India is being offered would be the most advanced variant ever built. It has many capabilities the earlier don’t have. Pakistan latest Block 52’s don’t even match the Block 60 Desert Falcons the UAE has. Again the super Viper is a 4.5 generation aircraft. Not a 5 generation but inbetween 4 and 5….
mantap abis kapan tni au beli…………
